WCB周年記念ビールの定番と化した、例のStout案件。今年、Hop Dudeたちの満場一致で選ばれたのは、まさかの2夜連続『Slumber Party』……？！？！
今回も濃厚の液体を生み出すべく、長時間を要する仕込みに、やっぱり呼び出されるMr.Dだったが、4周年記念というコトで、WCBスタッフ総出で決行(実話)！2日間をかけ寝ずに行うブルーイングに取り掛かるや否や、やっぱり飲んで食べては笑って踊ってエンドレス。またしても気づけば繰り広げられてしまったパジャマパーティー。。。みんながいれば、絶対大丈夫…だよね……？
チョコレートやコーヒーを連想させるアロマには、優しく香るココナッツにダークビスケット感。カラメルや黒蜜の印象を抱くフレーバーには、副原料として投入したココナッツと、控えめに顔を覗かせるピスタチオも。アルコールのキレを感じ、くどくない儚い甘さに酔いしれる。
完成が心配になる自由っぷりではあったが、中にはただひたすらに真っすぐ、寝ずに真剣な者たちがいた。それは我らがWCBブルワーズ！！！周りの騒がしさに目もくれず夜から朝まで大奔走。Stoutの濃厚さが証明する彼らの功績を、どうぞご堪能ください。
MIGHT AS WELL LIVE AT THE BREWERY THEN EH? Pretty much dudes. Although technically it wasn’t exactly 44 hours, we are going to call this one a “44” hour boil (4th anniv!), 10x mash and just kind of leave that out there for you. We preempted our summer celebration by spending 2 nights (overnight) at the brewery in early May, but unlike previous iterations, this time with food, gaming and camaraderie. We took the OG Slumber recipe and suped it up a touch, so you’re getting thick oily resinous deliciousness, loads of roasted malt hits and dark chocolate flavors… and with toasted pistachios and coconut puree added to the mix, dare we say SO MUCH MORE. This 13.5% Big Boy brings the heat, along with a surprisingly prevalent roasted nutty component, that when combined with the coconut gives this brew BA levels of layered complexity. We’ve cooked a lot of dark goodies in the past—this one quite literally takes the cake.
